Half of the lake lies within Tanzanian territory and is considered to be the source of River Nile that runs through Uganda, Sudan, and Egypt and into the Mediterranean Sea.
Mwanza International Airport is located approximately 10 km from the main town, with daily services from/to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Entebbe. Charter flights can be organized through various agencies, should it be required. Mwanza's climate is very temperate with short rains and long rains being the main type of change. Temperatures range from 25 degrees Celsius to approximately 35 degrees Celsius.

Wag Hill Lodge, situated on the southern shores of Lake Victoria, is about a 30 minute drive from the town of Mwanza. Gently rolling, lush green hills and breathtaking granite rock structures that appear to defy gravity surround this region of the Lake, known for its scenic beauty.
The vast plains of the Serengeti National Park, scene of the annual migration of over a million wildebeest and their attendant predators, is situated only two hours drive from Wag Hill Lodge. Alternatively fly from Mwanza International Airport directly to Seronera, the heart of the Serengeti.
