Our guests play a critical role in assisting Wag Hill Lodge to realize our dream – to integrate travellers with the protected indigenous environment and demonstrate that wildlife can be preserved on a sustainable basis by all.

Our lodge has been designed and built with the intent of harmonising with the local environment.  The facilities we provide are being maintained with the lowest possible impact on our surroundings.

There is no mains electrical power or diesel generators. All our power is solar. We can recharge mobiles and cameras and have refrigeration and lights but no televisions, hair dryers or music systems.

As we are located in the midst of an expansive forest, we allow the natural elements to take care of itself. This provides us with a generous supply of dead wood and material which we can use to furnace the hot water system known as kuni boilers.

Wag Hill Lodge employs local staff for the day to day running of the lodge.  Materials for building and site maintenance are sourced locally as are the skilled personnel required to keep the lodge in good order.

We believe it is important that the local residents feel the benefit of tourism in their homeland.

We are striving to avoid using any products which have an impact on the environment, however, it is sometimes unavoidable, yet we are constantly looking for alternative means to improve our green status.   Any advice and comments on the matter are welcomed.
